ChampsDCC (Digital Comics Creator) creates dcf comic files for the digital comics reader ChampsDCR... to use you simply load all of your comic's pages by drag-n-dropping them onto the list box or clicking on the add button and choose one or more files from the file dialog... this program supports BMP, JPEG, TIF and TGA images... hopefully one day i can add more, i would like to add support for Photoshop files when i learn how... after you load your images in the list, you need to arrange them in the order they should appear... the first and last image will be called the front and back cover even if its not a cover. keep this in mind when you choose to make pages/covers greyscale or not.... always try to load an even number of pages, i'm not sure how ChampsDCR will act to odd pages in double page mode... to arrange your images in order you can click and drag an item up or down to a new spot or you can highlight an item and use the move up and down buttons... when done with that, you need to choose the size you want to use... you can choose from the preset standard sizes or your own custom pixel sizes... when you add your own sizes you need to type in the largest size of your page before the bleed crop and the size it will be after the bleed crop you can also choose to not to crop the bleed off the page... when you have the trim bleed option off it will use the largest size as the final size not the smaller after cropping size... after you do this if you choose to crop the page you can set the top left starting positions on the page to crop. at this time all of your pages will be cropped in the same spot so make sure all of your page's bleeds match.... i normally center my bleeds... but i heard some people alternate bleeds more on the outside edge of pages... at this time its not supported by ChampsDCC, you can also choose to make pages and or covers greyscale... then you need to set the compression of the dcf, 100 means no compression and 1 is very high compression, around 75 - 83 is normaly what i choose, after you have all of your options set and your comments about your book in the creator notes box you can click on the save as button and choose a file name for your dcf file, click ok and then the dcf file will be created and your images will be coverted to the right sizes and format....on old computers this might take a long time, especially if you are using print quality images to create the dcf...do not close my app down if you think its frozen, just wait around and see first... i added a progress dialog that should appear and let you know whats going on, my app may turn all white while its working, this is normal because i didnt use a thread process... but watch the progress dialog it will redraw it self after each step it does while creating the dcf and resizing and compressing the images.... when done the progress dialog will close itself and my app will turn back natural and not all white... after you have finish saving the dcf you can click on the test mode button to open the dcf to see if the image list loads and the creator notes load, if you didnt get any errors then all should be fine... you can now load your dcf with ChampsDCR and view your comic........ in the next versions of ChampsDCC i plan on adding more features for the test mode option... i will let you know more on this at a later time... also in the future i want to make this app even more powerful... i want to create a new dcf format with support for audio and clickable areas on the pages that will play the sounds... so stay tuned!... followed by this i will have to release a new version of ChampsDCR as well with the support of the new format.... thanks for your interest in this app, and for your puchase... it will help me to continue working on this... if you have any problems with the app you can send an email to me at champcomics@yahoo.com and tell me about it.... take care, -Champ
